Brief Summary

  • CDC Climate and Health Program (BRACE Framework) work on waterborne illness
  • EPHT work on surveillance of waterborne illness
Discussion Prompts:
  1. What indicators and indicators are being evaluated at a state or city level to study waterborne illness in regards to climate change?
  2. What state level research is being conducted to explore the relationship between waterborne disease and climate?
  3. Are there topic areas or data needs that aren’t being addressed by these networks in regards to waterborne illness?
  4. What challenges do CSTE members face in their states in monitoring and evaluating the potentially changing impacts of waterborne illness?
This roundtable will focus on the waterborne illness & climate projects & surveillance going on at the state and local level, including the CDC Climate and Health Program and the EPHT network.   While an overview of these initiatives is important, the hosts anticipate that the most dynamic part of this roundtable will be a discussion of state and local gaps and needs for climate change planning, research, and tracking in regards to waterborne disease.
