BACKGROUND: The NIOSH’s Adult Blood Lead Epidemiology and Surveillance (ABLES Program uses a standardized set of 18 variables for the surveillance of elevated blood lead levels (BLLs) in adults. This session aims at improving the quality of coding variables for ABLES program. NIOSH, the ABLES Coding Committee, and State ABLES programs representatives will analyze current coding practices. We will also discuss update guidelines for the ABLES Standardized Variables Code Book.
