Brief Summary
The National Outbreak Reporting System (NORS) is a web-based interface implemented in 2009 for reporting of waterborne, foodborne, and enteric outbreaks associated with any mode of transmission by state and territorial public health agencies to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Data from this system are managed by multiple programs at CDC and are used to inform policy and prevention efforts of public health professionals, researchers, and policy makers. This roundtable will include a discussion of the strengths of the system, areas for improvement, reporting tools, data use, and opportunities for collaboration on outbreak reporting within and among state and federal agencies.
