Biographical Sketch:
Ellen Weiss Wiewel is an epidemiologist in the HIV Epidemiology and Field Services Program of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. She analyzes HIV surveillance data for New York City and is a liaison to city planning bodies for HIV prevention, treatment and care. Her areas of interest include transgender, foreign-born, and racial and ethnic minority populations; medical care after HIV diagnosis; and the community planning process for HIV funding allocation. She is studying for a doctorate in public health at the City University of New York. She holds a Master of Health Science degree in Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Sociology from Smith College.
