Biographical Sketch:
Paula Soper MS, MPH, PMP, is Senior Director for Informatics at the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, and an Instructor in the JHU School of Nursing Applied Health Informatics Program. She was a NLM/ RWJF Public Health Informatics Fellow at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she received an MS in Health Sciences Informatics. She is a doctoral candidate in Health Policy and Management at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Ms. Soper received her MPH from George Washington University in Maternal and Child Health and BA in Biology and Human Relations from Trinity College. Paula worked in health informatics and public health systems and services research at NORC at University of Chicago and RTI International. Paula was Program Manager for Public Health Preparedness and Response and Senior Analyst for Public Health Informatics at NACCHO. There, Paula focused on ensuring public health involvement in national preparedness and health information technology efforts. She was a Senior Advisor to American Health Information Community’s Biosurveillance and Population Health and Clinical Connections Workgroups. Previously, Paula was Senior Epidemiologist and Senior Manager of Health Consulting Group at Scientific Technologies Corporation, managing projects including local and state community health assessments and community health improvement plans to statewide planning and implementation of disease surveillance systems and immunization registries. Paula worked as epidemiologist and Director of the statewide immunization registry for Maryland, and was founding President of American Immunization Registry Association. Her research interests include use data-driven decision-making supporting quality improvement in governmental public health.
