Biographical Sketch:
Olivia completed her M.P.H. in global epidemiology from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. During her studies she interned in the Division of Family Health, Oregon Public Health Division as a Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology Intern in the Graduate Student Internship Program. In addition, she worked for the CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health Program for Emergency Preparedness and Response. Before her entering her M.P.H. program she served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in The Gambia where she became interested in public health and its impact on women and children. For the past two year, Olivia has worked in the Office of Data Translation at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health where she is working on validating severe morbidity data in PELL, establishing a statewide infant mortality review, exploring alternative socioeconomic position indicators to explain disparities in preterm birth, and examining risk factors for and programmatic implications of unintended pregnancy.
