A pre-conference workshop will be hosted by the Occupational Health Surveillance Subcommittee and will offer attendees two sessions. During the morning session, specific injury and illness data sets with relevance to occupational safety and health will be discussed, including the strengths and limitations of these data sources. The format for this session will be a panel discussion with specific datasets presented and opportunities for stakeholders to share their experiences. Rounding out the morning session will be a series of presentations focusing on how to create effective dissemination materials with limited resources.
After lunch, the general topic of how occupational health fits within the public health model will be explored. Presentations may include occupational health and public health accreditation, strategies for identifying priorities, data gathering and partnership opportunities in states, and evaluation efforts. The afternoon session will conclude with an opportunity for attendees to engage in an open discussion.
