David W. Walker , Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, GA

Key Objectives:
This round table interaction is intended to update CSTE members on the direction of the National Syndromic Surveillance Program and get their input on the operation of the shared tools in the NSSP’s cloud based platform.

Brief Summary:
CDC has been supporting the national syndromic surveillance community of practice through preparedness and BioSense funding since 2001.  Many are familiar with the BioSense program, which has traditionally been focused on software and applications.  The National Synromic Surveillance Program will still work to improve software available in the shared cloud environment, but is more focused on supporting the community of practice and advancing the science of surveillance.  Near term goals are focused on working with the community to improve data quality and processing, midterm goals are to explore improved functionality of analysis and visualization tools, and long term goals include working with the community to describe and support a more unified national surveillance picture beyond traditional syndromic surveillance.  Please join us to discuss.
