Key Objectives:
Participants in this roundtable will have the opportunity to: 1) Understand the purpose and capabilities of the Texas Health Services Data Gateway, a tool to facilitate the exchange of clinical information for public health purposes. 2) Discuss opportunities and challenges for utilizing integrated reporting of clinical data for public health reporting, care management, case management, and other purposes; 3) Discuss challenges and opportunities for integrating provider management and other shared tools between disparate systems; and 4) Discuss challenges and opportunities for expanding gateway services to additional program areas.

Brief Summary:
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has implemented a Health Services Data Gateway (HSG), an information technology tool based on commercial off-the-shelf software, to serve as a central method for exchange of standards-based clinical data between DSHS and its trading partners with the goal of improving efficiency in data exchange supporting public health reporting, syndromic surveillance, and other DSHS programs. This service may be expanded to serve additional Texas state health agencies as an enterprise-wide resource. This roundtable will include a short history of the HSG, the programs and services currently included in the HSG, and the expansion of HSG services. The discussion will address challenges associated with integrated reporting such as privacy and consent management, opportunities for integrating key agency and enterprise-wide services such as shared provider registration tools, the use and advancement of data standards, and provider/partner engagement.
