Share health department successes and challenges in using open source BI system to improve data quality, manage staff workload, and monitor program performance 3. Identify CSTE members interested in the uses of open source BI system for possible future collaborations or discussions

Brief Summary:
EpiTrax, adopted in 2010 by Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) is a NEDSS-compatible system developed by the Utah Department of Health for all reportable diseases including STD, HIV/AIDS and TB. With the integration of STD/HIV/TB/Hepatitis surveillance programs in 2014, developing an automatic system for data quality control and program management becomes more critical and urgent. Following the CDC and SNHD disease surveillance guidelines, SNHD used the open source Pentaho Business Analytics System to generate comprehensive and automated reports to check data quality issues in the EpiTrax system and notify users daily. This resulted in the timely addressing of data quality issues and dramatic improvement in data quality. In addition, SNHD uses Pentaho workload and performance indicator reports to monitor and manage programs more timely and efficiently.  Attendees of this roundtable will be invited to share their experiences and challenges in using automated systems for data quality control and program management.
