Key Objectives:
This roundtable is an opportunity to connect with people that are using GIS or wanting to use GIS for chronic disease prevention and management and will provide an opportunity for attendees to:
- Learn about the current activities of the Chronic Disease GIS Network
- Discuss current GIS challenges and successes with other state and local health departments
- Provide input into the scope of activities within the Chronic Disease GIS Network that will best support the GIS needs of state and local health departments
- Learn about new tools and activities for chronic disease GIS from CDC, NACDD and Rice University.
Brief Summary:
The goal of the Chronic Disease GIS Network is to facilitate networking among chronic disease GIS users and enhance the use of GIS for chronic disease prevention and management within state and local health departments. The GIS Network was established collaboratively by the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, and Rice University. The GIS Network allows members to connect through on-line meeting spaces and webinars. This roundtable will provide an opportunity for people interested in GIS for chronic disease prevention and management to connect face-to-face.
