Key Objectives:
To recruit new members to the Public Health Law Subcommittee and identify topics of interest for future webinars and projects to work on in the coming year.

Brief Summary:
The CSTE Public Health Law Subcommittee addresses legal and legislative issues around surveillance policy and public health practice of interest to CSTE members. Past public health law subcommittee activities have included assessments of the impact of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) on surveillance, the HIPAA privacy rule and impact on public health surveillance and response activities, input on the National Integrated Public Health Surveillance Systems and Reportable Conditions Act, review of the CDC’s proposed rules on control of communicable diseases, legal implications of the CDC’s Flu On Call Project, data sharing agreements and defining public health practice vs. research.
