Behavioral Health Surveillance Projects

Key Objectives:
Jurisdictions will discuss the applied epidemiology pilot projects conducted to assess emerging public health issues specifc to substance misuse and/or mental health. Results and lessons learned from the projects will be shared.

Brief Summary:
 In 2016, CSTE awarded 12 jurisdictions small grants, through the funding support of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), to conduct pilot projects using novel surveillance methods to address any emerging behavioral health issue of concern. Several of the awarded jurisdictions will share their pilot project details, lessons learned, and implications for future surveillance in this Roundtable discussion.
