Data can make all the difference. This is true throughout most government entities, but especially in public health, where making connections between data points can mean making a breakthrough that affects thousands or millions of citizens in a single jurisdiction. This session provides attendees with a firsthand demonstration of Maven, a public health IT solution that allows users to send, receive and use electronic health information through secure data exchange. We highlight how Maven leverages interoperability with hospitals and laboratories in order for public health organizations to benefit. In meaningful use exchange, a subset of lab information indicating morbidity is transferred. From an epidemiological perspective, this is only one segment of information needed to complete the whole picture – so it doesn’t deliver everything end users need. For example, important data points such as treatment given and facilities that provide treatments are often left out of meaningful exchange. Join us as we demonstrate how this exchange process can be fortified through configurability based on morbidity. Attendees will walk away with a new understanding of how a standardized business processes can unify critical information from multiple areas and systems.
