Moderators:

CSTE convened an Antimicrobial Resistance/Electronic Laboratory Reporting Workgroup in Fall 2016 to develop a guidance document describing best practices and issues related to capturing Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) in HL7 2.3.1 or 2.5.1 standard format for reporting to public health agencies. This guidance document will be presented and discussed during this roundtable session and includes workgroup members’ experiences with receiving and processing CRE ELRs and recommended practices for working with laboratories and CRE ELR messages. The focus of the workgroup was on CRE reporting, but these best recommendations may also be applicable to surveillance for other antimicrobial resistant organisms.
