Sunday, June 22, 2014: 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
201 (Nashville Convention Center)

This full day workshop will provide an opportunity for public health surveillance professionals from across the country and staff from CDC’s Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services and Office of Infectious Diseases to discuss the rapidly changing world of public health surveillance, discuss challenges and opportunities, share best practices, and discuss plans for the future. This workshop will be a venue for active dialogue with CDC about the agency’s strategies and priorities for improving activities in public health surveillance. Discussion in the morning will focus on two large national surveillance systems, the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS) and BioSense. Afternoon session components will include dialogue about state readiness for electronic case reporting and the Reportable Conditions Knowledge Management System and its governance structure.
