Assessment and analytic inclusion is often lacking for populations that are small in size, difficult to reach, or otherwise left out of MCH analysis and reporting. This session will highlight strategies for identifying and including underrepresented populations and for incorporating emerging analytic methods to broaden the impact of our work. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
-
Father involvement and men’s reproductive health
-
Impact of grandparents (intergenerational analyses)
-
Children and adolescents with special health care needs
-
Inclusion of racial, ethnic, religious, and linguistic minority populations in data collection
While examples will primarily be MCH-focused, the data sources and approaches are cross-cutting, translating across multiple topic areas. All those with an interest in learning how to better incorporate underrepresented populations and emerging analytic methods are welcome to attend.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
-
Recognize the ways in which some population groups may be underrepresented in existing MCH analytic and reporting approaches.
-
Understand the value of identifying and incorporating underrepresented population groups in to new and existing MCH data systems.
-
Identify state/territorial opportunities for inclusion of underrepresented population groups.
-
Identify emerging analytic methods that can be incorporated into MCH epidemiologic work.
